The development of movida would have been quite harder without the help of the following open source projects. Thanks to all the guys that work (or have worked) on these great libraries!

  • Trolltech’s Qt framework
  • The zlib compression library
  • The libxml2 and libxslt libraries

Last but not least, thanks to all the people that have sent comments, suggestions and bug reports related to both movida and The OSDaB Project. They have been the main reason for not giving up the development even if the time to work on movida was missing.

Contributes

Currently we are not looking for “full time” help, as the whole source code is too messy to be shared with somebody. Nevertheless, movida needs some contributions. Below is a list of tasks that might need your help. Feel free to contact us if you think you could be of some help or if you have any other question.

  • Design/artwork: movida needs a nice icon set, some Qt user interface stylesheets and some more artwork for the “about” dialog, for a possible splash screen and for this website.
  • If you are running Mac OS X you can help us reporting bugs and any other issues, as we cannot test movida on this platform yet.
  • Code contributions.
    • Cross-platform video file access. This would allow movida to retrieve some basic technical details from a video file or dvd.
    • Import/export routines. The I/O interface still needs some work so this task will have to wait.
  • Translations: we will be looking for translators as soon as a beta version of movida is ready.

SVN Repository

If you want to see the latest code you can use the SVN repository by either using a browser and Sourceforge.net’s ViewVC or a SVN client with the following repository URL:

https://movida.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/movida/trunk

If you use a the official subversion command-line client (this is a default on most Linux distros) run the following command after moving to an empty directory where the files are going to be dowloaded:

svn co “https://movida.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/movida/trunk” .

This will download the files of the movida “trunk” branch into the current directory.

If you have TortoiseSVN on Windows, use the context menu and select “SVN Checkout…” after moving to an empty folder. Then look at the following screenshot for configuration details:

kdesvn users can select the “Subversion > General > Checkout a repository” command and then have a look at the following screenshot:

Note: the code on the SVN server should always build on both Win32 and Linux, but there might be temporary build issues on one of the two platforms. Cross platform build tests are performed as often as possible but not after each single commit, so please bear with us.

      Template based HTML view. Just chose your favorite template or write the best one!
      A new Smart View provides you with relevant and easy to find information.
      Take your collection wherever you want! Movie collections are stored in plain text XML files stuffed in standard zip files. This means you can easily edit your archive even without movida!
      Do you like movie posters? movida definitely does!
      Import/export your collection from/to common file formats.
      Cross referenced data. Have fun finding what movies featuring an actor you can find in your collection.

The Smart View provides a quick way to display movie posters and relevant information. Tthe tiles can be reduced or enlarged to show less or more information.s
Use the tiny controls to set a rating, to mark the movies as seen or to mark them as "special" and find them later on.

Filter bar.
A Firefox-like filter bar allows to search through your collection with no hassle. Advanced but user friendly queries are also possible.
Just write something and the filter bar will automatically pop up and show any matching movie.
